As a collective of top-end independent self-catering operators, Premier Cottages has worked very closely with PASC UK since its inception in 2017, and we often work together on joint projects.  These include the joint writing of the National Covid Cleaning Protocols for the self-catering sector (together with PASC UK and the ASSC), and a number of joint sector-related webinars over the course of the pandemic, aimed at helping our members – and the broader PASC UK membership – improve their businesses.  These were on topics as varied as the Legal Obligations of a Self-catering Business, how to be an Accessible Business; the Pros and Cons of Direct Booking; and how to best market your property.  Most Premier Cottages members are professional self-caterers, rather than second homeowners, and a high percentage of members derive all or the majority of their income from self-catering, so the core objectives and values of PASC are directly aligned with those of our membership.  Premier Cottages is proud to work closely with PASC towards the achievement of our common objectives

Quality in Tourism & PASC Partnership

Quality in Tourism, part of QIA Services (Quality Intl Assessment Services), has long had the ambition to professionalise all segments of the industry. Having run the VisitEngland scheme as an outsourced partner for over 15 years we recognized the schemes lack flexibility and suitability for the sector as it has evolved. Consumer focused, Quality in Tourism (QiT) has partnered with PASC UK, as organisations we are forged with the same principles in mind, PASC UK to support the industry and QiT the industry and the consumer.

Our mission is to be the conduit for best practice and business improvement. QiT have developed standards and accreditation to support industry going forward. We are the opposite of the old fashioned “inspectorate” and pride ourselves on being personable and supportive; our job is not to fail a property it is to support it to get it over the line. Nor are we obliged to be prescriptive about physical attributes as with common standards, in fact we are advocates for the uncommon, the innovative and the creative.

Using a mixture of software and soft skills QiT has a very modern approach to third party accreditation, which is such a differentiator in the marketplace. Customers are savvy now and operators need to be at the top of their game as competition is at its highest. We work with operators who are morally inclined to look after customers. PASC UK endorses QiTs’ accreditation as the gold standard, a view shared by Which? magazine and many others.
