WALES REPORTS

Over the past four years Members of PASC have been involved in creating a variety of reports to inform various parties of the size and importance of the self-catering sector.

The industry itself, and the government, all need to understand the economic impact that what was thought to be a ‘small’ industry contributes to the wider economy. We now have proof that we are part of a sector that generates £8.4bn in the economy and sustain 90,000 FTE (Full Time Employment) jobs. A remarkable contribution for a sector almost totally managed by micro-businesses. The impact of Covid-19 on the sector has been huge and we are working with the ASSC (Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers) and SuperControl to research and publish a key form and value report of the UK self-catering sector. This data is vital when lobbying Government. We anticipate this will be available in early August 2021.

These reports can have real value, the report on the impact on the sector of the 2017 business rate rises, led to PASC UK working with the Valuation Office in England and Wales to secure a 35% reduction in rateable values for self-catering. We will add more reports to this page as time goes by.
